JNU Holi: A pictorial documentation (2009)

Welcome to the JNU Holi blog.
This blog is a pictorial documentation of the JNU Holi (11 March 2009).
I always used to lock myself in the room on Holi day but this Holi I thought enough was enough. So I ventured out with my camera and clicked some 450 pics (and few vids).
This documentation is not exhaustive; I have missed many places (and probably aspects too) in JNU. It does give a great glimpse of the Holi in JNU which is unique in more ways than one, just the same.
The following is a rough scheme of JNU Holi:
- Chaat Sammelan in the night before the Holi
- Breakfast with Bhang on Holi day
- After celebrating Holi in their respective hostels, the JNUites assemble in the Jhelum/Ganga lawns.
I have missed some hostels because I could not visit them thanks to lack of time and resources. Please note that Tapti Holi or Chandrabhaga Holi are not strict terms and I mean the place more than the residents. When I write Tapti Holi, I only mean that I captured pics in the Tapti Hostel.
If you are running short of time, you may consider only the Mahi-Mandavi MUD Holi, Jhelum Lawns, Babas/Sahdus, Fi-rang Holi (foreigners).

All pics are highly compressed for easy uploading (which also compromises the quality). Besides, it is not advisable to put up high-resolution personal images on the internet. I am an amateur photographer and these pics are lacking in more ways than one.
Because they are all pics, the pages may take some time in loading depending on your internet connection. There are three vids too of one minute duration each.

I am again missing my college. Btw have visited JNU a number of times…and I must say, almost no college can match the feel and ambience of JNU’s campus.

It is the festival of colours! On this day everyone colours everyone! 😀 It is arguably the most popular festival of Hindus. This is Holi as in my campus (even the foreigners enjoy it so much). And, I am going river-rafting today for some days!
